Carlton House is ideally situated in the historic market town of Skipton, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, being only a 3 minute walk from the town centre with its medieval castle, bustling open air market on the cobbled setts, canalside walks and cruises, and a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and tourist attractions.

Skipton Castle dates back some 900 years and is one of the most complete and well preserved castles in England. The nearby Bolton Abbey estate, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire with its riverside walks and 12th century priory, is well worth a visit as is the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway which starts just outside the town.

Stepping-stones across the Gill lead to open fells and are the start of many recognised walks of various lengths to suit all abilities.

Carlton House provides an ideal base for exploring the idyllic Dales countryside with something for everyone, close by.
